National Single Launch Tour
MEDIA RELEASE: John Flanagan embarks on an epic National Single Launch Tour during Feb, March and April taking in VIC, SA, TAS, NSW, QLD & WA to celebrate the release of ‘The Last of the Cassette Men’ - the single he wrote after meeting the great singer/songwriter Paul Kelly. John won the respect of the Australian country & roots music scene when he took out the prestigious Gympie Music Muster Talent Search impressing a panel of judges from within the industry. As part of the major prize package John recorded ‘The Last of the Cassette Men’ with Pacific International Music featuring Nashville based session musicians.
With original but timeless melodies and deeply honest lyricism John Flanagan has steadily been
building a reputation as one of Australia’s most exciting up and coming singer/songwriters. After recording ‘The Last of the Cassette Men’ John has worked on funding his own full album release. He received an Australia Council Grant and crowd-funding which assisted him in travelling to Nashville to record with producer Viktor Krauss, the brother of Alison Krauss and a world-class producer/bass player in his own right. John has recently returned from Nashville and the album is planned for release in mid 2015.
Combining 70s folk singer/songwriter influences with Appalachian, claw-hammer banjo, John creates an Americana/folk sound that is both familiar and new. John has picked up song-writing awards around Australia and won over fans at major folk festivals around the country. His previous CD releases Meet Me In Between (2009) and Young Minds (2012) have received airplay Australia wide and critical acclaim
